This chess game is absolutely crazy!
With the most powerful engines battling it out 24/7 for the Computer Chess Championship, chess fans are rewarded with a virtually endless supply of fascinating games. However, every now and then a game is SO extraordinary that even other computer games cannot compare. When this happens, we to have to share it with the world.
Recently, the two engines Stoofvlees and Igel faced off in the 17th Computer Bullet Chess Championship. Playing the Nimzowitsch-Larsen attack was mandatory for this encounter, and until the eighth move it looked like normal play would develop. That’s when Stoofvlees showed his intention to go for the amazing. A seemingly simple pawn sacrifice was the prelude to the offensive brilliance that awaited us.

It’s no secret that every chess player likes to see a large piece sacrificed. Nothing makes the heart beat faster than donating gear and drawing a thin line between stunning victory or crushing defeat. So when you see the winning team give away not one but multiple coins, you know something special is going to happen, especially when you can’t see an immediate combination to win the game.

It is very difficult for players to detach themselves from the “concrete” characteristics of a position, such as the number of materials. In this game, Stoofvlees demonstrates beautifully how the dynamic aspects of the game, such as the activity of the pieces, can be decisive.
